ENG
It’s like something of a forest: its shadow is all you see,
as long as your steps are its roots. Your blood, the sap
that darkens the branches. I’ll come back to myself
when I’ll be the sun that moves the forest’s shape.

Ho poi osservato me stesso: perso, riflesso, nell’unico
ENG
I’ve set fire to all the bushes, I’ve erased all the names,
there’s nothing left of this town except a woven of
lines that are incapable of telling anything about me,
incapable of holding me.
I’ve then looked at myself: lost, reflected, in the last
standing mirror.
My face looks hollow, it has the expression of familiar
things, when the heart said goodbye to them.
Expectations worn down the cheeks, while the outline
fades from the sight. If I wipe away these thoughts,
keeping me on the ground, what could even resist
my disappearance, my face, like a thin shell, would give
into this nothingness.
Burns, it’s a feast for my eyes.
Devours, my shape in your flames.

Panico/ Sadico/ Magico
Fino a che non dico più niente
è una sopraffazione
Fino a che non sento più niente
è una liberazione
Fino a che non vedo più niente
è una rivelazione
Panico/ Sadico/ Magico
Ho visto architetture d’acqua e luce, trame filate
sovrastano i miei occhi. Nelle stanze più segrete
ogni uomo ogni donna fabbrica una campana
aspettando il giorno del suo suono, inevitabile:
il dono della cecità.
Panico/ Sadico/ Magico
ENG
Panic/ Sadic/ Magic
Until I say no more
it’s overwhelming
Until I feel no more
it’s a liberation
Until I see no more
it’s a revelation
Panic/ Sadic/ Magic
I’ve seen architectures made of water and light, wefts
spun by ancient hands that held me, baptisms and
rebirths, but then, further away, I’ve heard about fire,
black flames, mangled bodies, there is no litany for the
ones that fell in silence.
I can’t figure out where the middle is, my sight appears
broken, I shun bright things while dark cathedrals
tower over my eyes. In the most secret rooms every
man and woman builds a bell, waiting for it to chime,
inevitable: the gift of blindness.
Panic/ Sadic/ Magic
Thoughts talk in my head, in a language I can’t
comprehend. Immersing our hands in the soil,
we build a monument of love.

Rintocchi

ENG
I’ve read poems from far away, among constellations,
but now what kind of planet would I be, without a star
to shine on me?
Time doesn’t create shape in this celestial movement.
Bells resonate in this void, with every chime,
they link me to a full perspective.
A celestial body that gives me air to breathe
the universe, in the void

Parigi

assenza; oppure dovrei esserci dentro fino in fondo,
(Italo Calvino, 1974).
ENG
“I’ve never written about Paris, I think.
To write on Paris I should detach myself from it,
maybe, if it’s true that one writes starting from a place
of absence; if one assumes that the scenery of the
youth are the ones that build one’s personal imaginary
world, I should’ve been all the way inside of Paris from
my youth. But maybe that’s the point: there is a need
for a place to become an internal landscape, so that
our imagination starts to inhabit that place and
to make it its own theater”
(Italo Calvino, 1974).

dalle nostre vite capovolte.
ENG
As the light that fills the room and covers the corners
and walls, everything in me was becoming shapeless,
not even the shadow would remain.
I’ve blinded myself, too much light hurts the hearts of
the ones living in the dark.
I couldn’t distinguish the good from the bad, my
shape from all the other things, everything in me was
becoming shapeless. I’m now thinking back to all the
time I’ve spent blinded. I can’t say I’ve understood
something, but that my shape is erratic.
I’m now thinking back to all the time I’ve spent blinded.
I can’t say I’ve understood something, but that my
shape is erratic, broken, an absurd collection of
different limbs. I’ll never be identical to myself, and
time won’t bring an improvement, since it is marked
by the fragments of a disharmonic past.
I’ll rip myself under the lash of days, stomped by our
upside-down life.
I can only hope to distinguish some outlines from the
dense shadows, and in those outlines I’ll pray to see
myself, with no certainty.

Riflessi

I dreamt of burning forests, empty cities, it’s impossible to sleep at night because of the shapes I’ve seen, even when I’m so tired that my eyes can’t see anymore.
But when the sight comes back, I see everything again, as clear as the sun that I used to love, and I beg for someone to free me from the gift I’ve so longed for.
I watched burning forests, empty cities, it’s impossible to sleep at night because of the shapes I’ve seen, even when I’m so tired that my eyes can’t see anymore.

ENG
I watch over the desert sometimes, standing still,
without feeling time. I wish to make art of this sand.
As if in a memory of light something never seen and
always waiting should happen, but only shadows arise
from the sand.
As if something never seen and always waiting should
happen, but it never does, it never does.
My world for a moment so close to infinity, but then
nothing but a dream stays. So I collect pictures
always fading before I can see them. The unresolved
enigma, the unbroken secret. And one become old
in the end, with the ear still tense.

a rinchiudermi in me stesso, a seguire dei punti
tempo riuscivo a vedere.
e veder me stesso.
ENG:
For a long time now, I’m sitting on the shore of this
sea, there is nothing inside of it expect for the ruins
of what I used to see, long ago.
I arrived here to find the eye I had lost, without which
I couldn’t find reason in the shapes I observed.
I’ve never found it, I’ve only been able to lock myself
in me, following some shapeless points.
«I’d like to stay forever under the colors of this
sunset», I used to tell myself. When the night would
come, I’d try to look up to the stars and see myself.
For a long time now, I’m sitting on the shore of this
sea, there is nothing inside of it except for the ruins
of what I used to see, long ago.
I’ve just realized that the oppression that I felt on
me was nothing more than a pile of ruins, inside an
endless sea.
«I’d like to stay forever under the colors of this sunset»,
I used to tell myself. I never questioned myself on the
sky that was so faded by then.
When the night would come, I’d try to look up to the
stars and see myself.
Blurred lines can’t make a whole, in a motionless desert.
Only at the end of this constellation I’ve seen that
there were no shapes, that everything I’ve followed
was an endless sea.
